Born into a family of shooting, fishing, trail-blazing pioneers and taxidermists; Nicole grew up surrounded by natural history and her family’s collection of Africana . Spending her youth studying the works of Finch-Davies, Samuel Daniels and Audubon it was only in recent years that she would find a brilliant teacher to impart the techniques of the Botanical and Natural History art medium on her. Capturing scientific detail, understanding and drawing on the magical reactions of water and colour on paper seems to satisfy her obsessive compulsive tendencies. Being a non-hunting, spiritual aspirant and vegetarian yogini, her artwork seems to have finally given her relevance in her family.
All artworks are done on imported 300gsm Hot Pressed, acid-free Arches paper (100% cotton), with a limited pallet of the purest Winsor & Newton water colour pigments. This limited palette and acid-free paper and framing elements ensures the artwork remains of museum-standard, archival quality which will not fade or oxidize over time.
